Formed by Alexandre Martins and local talent Studio Pedrita, Hotel Hotel is a place that celebrates Lisbon, and its artists, animals, freethinkers, and culture-seekers from far and near. The space reflects a blend of sensibilities rooted by the natural world and human experience. 

Hotel Hotel represents a new generation of hotels built with the expressed purpose of interpersonal connectivity, where the collaborative spirit is at the project’s core.

Amongst the cobbled back streets, Hotel Hotel’s striking facade is the first clue of an artistic expression that takes inspiration from nature’s rich pattern work. Deep blue-green tiles have been individually crafted and placed to form a seemingly free-flowing, scale-like 3D pattern. Once inside, an open and airy reception flows into the restaurant and courtyard pool area beyond. Warm colors such as burgundy, taupes, and deep navy are framed by an explosion of botanicals.

With “collaboration is key” as a philosophy, interdisciplinary teams worked together to create surprising outcomes. The core concept places the Lisbon duo, Pedrita, at the heart of the project, but there’s more. Hotel Hotel is curated by Lisbon’s public street art specialists, Underdogs Gallery: Co-directors Pauline Foessel and Alexandre Farto(aka Vhils), selected a group of artists who represent the urban art movement in Portugal, such as Wasted Rita (in the restaurant and basement), Teresa Esgaio (at the reception), Pastel (mural by the pool), and Bordalo (on the second floor). Elevators will open to reveal mini-galleries on each floor. Additional pieces by AkaCorleone, Pedrita, André da Loba, are part of the decor. 

Just beyond the reception is ANIMAL, the hotel’s vegetable-forward restaurant and bar that seamlessly extends into the backyard courtyard and pool area.
